Wonderful story. My students loved it. And for those teachers worried about reading this book to children, don't hesitate. It is very sensitive to young readers who may be experiencing this same situation. Woodson is one of my favorite authors. Met her twice and she's such a warm and down to earth lady. Love her.
Great book will be using it in a parenting class. Helps adults to see how important a visit to a parent in prison is for a child.
This book has been a great help to use with my students dealing with a parent that has gone to prison.
So good! A great way to start a conversation about parents or family members being in jail, common experience for many young children today. I felt like it was a great conversation starter for some something some students related to and opening up a new door to others.
It was ok. I guess I wanted to read a little more but over all good book
