I order and read a lot of children's books to find ones suitable to support a curriculum of mindfulness, loving kindness, gratitude and connection to others. In all those books I come across a few real jewels; where the art is beautiful, the story is simply and clearly told, and the age level works for young children. This is one of those books. It doesn't try to say everything, but to say one thing very very well. I love this book. thank you Kadir Nelso. I hope you continue to produce other books with the same clear purpose and beauty.
This book is absolutely priceless! The illustrations are vivid and speak volumes, even with out words! Kadir Nelson has presented us with a wonderful story about the benefits of giving kindness. A beautiful lesson of sharing and kindness for our younger children. Not to mention adults who never learned the message of sharing & kindness!
I'm a long time fan of Kadir Nelson and wondered what a non-human character book would be like. It is absolutely charming with a simple but profound storyline, well supported (as always) by the rich and sometimes humorous illustrations. A beautiful remind to help children (and adults) be mindful of what they plant.
OMG I love this book! Not a lot of words but conveys SO much with the beautiful pictures. I work with a lot of young children and they always enjoy this one. Nice to read one I enjoy everytime too!
My 3 year old absolutely loves this book. We originally found it at the library but she was upset every time we had to return it, so we bought it. She still wants to read it all the time. The words are simple but the message is good- it is better to share than hoard things for yourself. The pictures are beautiful and the book is nice and large.
I absolutely love the message of this book and the most beautiful artwork. I recommended it to friends and they loved it as well. Perfect book for educators as well as family wanting to teach children lessons on sharing and kindness. Students who I shared this book with thoroughly enjoyed it and loved looking at the drawings.
This is such a wonderful book. It not only has gorgeous illustrations, but unlike most of the other books out there, this has a positive message of being kind, thoughtful and generous. It's story is easy to see and understand, and its message is clear. Great addition to our library!
